Alongside the art and gifts, I hand-make valerian and catnip toys — something I've done for rescue cats for over twenty years, long before Shelter & Shadows Design, or Happy Loopy Cats existed.
Over twenty years of fostering and rehoming, I made countless toys stuffed with valerian and catnip to help nervous cats settle and confident cats burn off energy. The Knotties you'll find here are the same toys, just grown up: supersize, handmade and loved by cats (and their humans) up and down the country.

Catnip brings out the playful, zoomy side of most cats, while valerian has a gentler, calming effect — handy for nervier cats, ones settling into a new home or just for sheer enjoyment! Every knottie is hand-made to order, in the same way I've made these toys for rescue cats for the last two decades.

In the Shelter & Shadows online shop these are available to purchase in packs of 5 knotties including postage via courier. These will be a selection of fabric designs. All you need to do is make your selection of either Catnip or Valerian.
